Broad to sit out of warm-up matches

Bangalore, November 08: Stuart Broad aggravated an injury on his right shoulder that he picked up in England’s opening tour match against the Diamond Eagles during fielding practice.

He has, however, suffered no major damage, but will sit out of England’s remaining two warm-up matches ahead of the limited-overs series against South Africa, the ECB has confirmed.

An ECB statement said that England’s medical staff will continue to assess the knock.

One of his potential replacements in England’s second warm-up match against the Warriors tomorrow, Graham Onions, is also facing a late fitness test on stiffness in his lower back.

The 50-over match in Kimberley is followed by a Twenty20 friendly with South Africa A in Bloemfontein, before England play South Africa in the opening Twenty20 international at the Wanderers on November 13.
