A 48-year-old Briton, who burst into a driving school and threatened to blow up the institute after failing a driving test twice, has been sentenced to jail for six years.
Michael Green twice failed a driving course costing 1,000 pounds at the Advantage HGV institute in London’s West End area, the Daily Express reported Wednesday.
In the siege in April, the man told four of the school’s staff he had “nothing left to live for”, a court heard.
Although he was carrying only a blowtorch, plasticine, headphones and methylated spirit, the man claimed to have enough explosives to destroy the building.
He forced the staff to throw computers out of a window. Armed police had to be called.
Green admitted false imprisonment, communicating false information with intent, and criminal damage.
The judge jailed Green for six years and ruled that he must spend a further three years on licence.
“You put others at risk, you caused the most dreadful disruption and you didn’t care because you were only thinking about you,” the judge told the man.
The defence lawyer said the man only wanted to cause “economic harm to the company”.
