A man in Britain allegedly fathered his step-daughter’s four children over a decade, a jury has heard.
The 60-year-old father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly first raped his step-daughter, now 29, when she was 15, Daily Mail reported.
His name was not on any of the children’s birth certificate. She was allegedly warned by him of going to prison for falsifying details if the reality emerged, Burnley Crown Court heard.
After the birth of her second child, a midwife turned so concerned to see how the family was concealing such a sexual abuse that she wrote to social services. But no official intervention followed from the authorities, the prosecution said.
On Friday, the jury viewed a DVD recording of a police interview that the woman gave when the alleged rapes were uncovered.
She said the inappropriate touching began when she was aged 14 and reached to full sex a year later. She gave birth to her first child at the age of 16 .
The jury asked her if she wanted the children and she replied: “They didn’t ask to be born but I love them.”
