Worried children are lending pocket money to their cash-strapped parents in Britain, a study claims.
Fifty-eight percent of eight to 15-year-olds said they fret about family finances, The Sun reported saturday.
Almost a third – 31 percent – of all the youngsters quizzed revealed they had loaned money.
Of those, about two-thirds said it was to friends and 29 percent to their parents. A quarter of all eight-year-olds had lent cash – mostly to pals, but more than a third had helped their mum and dad out.
The Halifax research came as real disposable incomes dropped to 273 pounds a week – their lowest level in nine years.
Family budgets have been squeezed by high living costs, unemployment and low pay rises.
The survey found youngsters in London were most likely to worry about money followed by those in the East Midlands, South East and South West.
