Dr. Alexander Evans, British Deputy High Commissioner, New Delhi & Andrew McAllistrer, British Deputy High Commissioner, Hyderabad called on the Chairman of State Minorities Commission, Abid Rasool Khan, at the Commission office here.
Discussions were held on the subject of role of Minorities Commission, its Powers and how it acts to protect the Constitutional Rights and Interests of the Minorities. The Chairman presented the Annual Reports and list of recommendations made by the Commission, to the British Deputy Commissioner. The British Deputy High Commissioner enquired about the socio-economic development, educational programmes, welfare schemes initiated by the Government of India and Government of Telangana and how it is reaching and benefitting the poor of the poorest amongst the Minorities.
The cases being dealt by the Commission pertaining to the Minorities, specially Muslims & Christian Minorities were discussed, including initiatives taken by the Commission to discourage the Muslim youth from aligning with the ISIS Terrorist Organization.
Discussions covered the area of co-operation and also encouragement
that can be extended by the British Government in the fields of Education, Employment and Business Opportunities for the Minorities.
