New Delhi, December 22: Seeking to boost ties in the areas of education and vocational training, Britain today expressed its keenness to increase partnership between its universities and their Indian counterparts by 10-fold in the next five years.
“We need to work closely on education, both in the university and vocational levels. There are already about 250 partnerships between British and Indian universities and institutes. I want to see this grow 10-fold in the next five years,” British first secretary of state for business, innovation and skills Peter Mandelson said at a CII function here today.
Mandelson met HRD Minister Kapil Sibal earlier in the day and discussed on expanding partnerships with Indian institutions, a ministry statement said.
“India’s hunger for education is large and public sector alone cannot meet this,” Mandelson said.
