London, April 20: Britain is to accept migrant workers from the Libyan city of Misratah, Andrew Mitchell, of Department for International Development (DFID) has said.
DFID has announced the UK will accept 5,000 workers from Misratah.
The workers and their families are to be evacuated from Misratah, which is controlled by the revolutionary forces, on charted ships.
People of Misratah and the aid workers there have complained about the living conditions, saying there is shortages of food, electricity, water and medicine.
The pro-regime forces are still attacking the city to weaken the revolutionary forces.
Britain is to pay £1.5 million to a number of charter ships to take the Libyan migrants out of Misratah to the UK.
The revolutionary forces battle the regime forces as migrants leave Misratah.
Two boatloads of Misratah residents have already departed the country.
According to DFID officials, 1,300 civilians have been either killed or injured in Misratah since February.
