Brisk activities for the lone Legislative Council seat of Greater Hyderabad

Hectic activities are on for the lone Legislative Council seat of Greater Hyderabad. The MLC seat is all set for an interesting battle as no party enjoys majority. Altogether, 156 elected representatives comprise the electorate for the Hyderabad local bodies constituency council seat. Which include 99 corporators, 8 cantonment board members, 49 members belong to Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and council.

77 Congress members are eligible to vote however 3 to 4 corporators have resigned from Congress and joined YSRCP. Majlis has 51 members and TDP has 21. It is believed that there will be cross-voting from the Congress. There is indication that Majlis, Congress and TDP would enter the fray. The two parties which will forge an alliance benefit. The TDP’s possible support to MIM will land Congress into trouble. However, according to sources, inspite of the rift between the ruling party and the MIM, the two parties are consulting each other to seek support for the lone Legislative Council seat.
