YSR Congress President and Opposition Leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy today demanded that the Centre should plunge into immediate action to get back all Telugu people stranded in the war-strife Libia.’
Talking to media persons, he expressed serious concern and asked the Centre to make all arrangements to bring them back to India. In a missive written to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Jagan Reddy sought that she should direct the authorities concerned to protect Indians caught up in the web of war-torn region. About thousand people from AP and TS have been stranded in Libia and are awaiting a helping hand from India, he said. ‘We have clear information that they are all caught up in the region and eagerly seeking protection from India’, he said. He also noted that Libia Embassy asked those stranded to leave the country and go to safer places. It also asked the Telugus to make use of their own ways to get back to their homeland, he said.
Keeping the pathetic conditions of the people, the Centre should take immediate action, he added. Meanwhile Kurnool district administration stated that 100 people who went to Libia to work in a cement company are safe. Terrorists exploded Libia Airport when the workers were trying to get back and caught up in the danger. However, the Government has engaged officials to bring them back, district collector said.(NSS)
