Jhargram(WB), February 24: Security forces exchanged fire with Maoists and then recovered firearms and explosives at Binpur in West Midnapore district today.
SP, Jhargram, Praveen Kumar Tripathy said four rifles, were recovered along with four gelatin sticks and four live cartridge during the raid at Dharampur locality under Binpur during the raid.
Earlier the forces faced resistance from the ultras while approaching the area but the Maoists retreated when the jawans returned the fire, Tripathy said.
In another raid at Barabari today under Jhargram police station area, the forces seized an one-shotter, some Maoist literature and one two-wheeler, the official said.
A leader of Maoist-backed People’s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) Jaydeb Mahato, however, alleged in the name of raid the forces assaulted family members of PCPA activists Madan and Lakshmi Mahato and took away valuables including ornaments and CD player.
