Dehradun, July 26: A Kanwaria (devotee of Lord Shiva) was swept away by gushing waters of river Bhagirathi after a bridge collapsed following heavy rains in Uttarkashi district today.
Other Kanwarias wallking along with him on the bridge were rescued, Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Arun Mohan Joshi said.
The devotees were on their way to Gaumukh glacier, the origin of river Ganga, when the bridge gave way, they said.
