Lahore: It seems that brides are being sold in Pakistan. A shocking report claimed that Chinese men bought 629 Pakistani girls and women and took them to China.
Human trafficking network
Human Trafficking networks are exploiting the poverty of the country. Although the investigators attempted to stop the trafficking, it was halted as it may impact the ties between Pakistan and China.
In the month of October, a court located in Faisalabad acquitted 31 Chinese who were accused of trafficking.
As per an activist, the Pakistani Government has put pressure on the Federal Investigation Agency to limit the investigation in trafficking. It is alleged that some of the officers were also transferred.
One of the officials of the country told that the rackets are growing rapidly.
When asked about the allegations, Interior and Foreign Ministries refused to comment on it.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ministry said that although, the government of China supports the formation of families between people of both countries, it is against of illegal marriages.
Middlemen
Reports claim that Chinese and Pakistani middlemen are involved in these rackets. They take 4-10 million rupees ($25,000 and $65,000) from the groom, however, the family of the girl gets only 200,000 rupees ($1,500).
After the marriage, the grooms take these brides to China. Some of them are even pushed into prostitution.
