Bribery case: 3 women employees of Maha govt get one year jail

A local court has sentenced three women employees of the Cooperation Department of Maharashtra Government to one year imprisonment in connection with a bribery case.

According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Assistant Registrars Rupa Mankar and Usha Valvi and head clerk
Arti Bhatkar had demanded money from the complainant for issuing an evaluation certificate in order to secure loan to
buy a new property.

The ACB said that even though all the documents were in place, the accused had demanded Rs 3,000 from the
complainant. The complainant approached the ACB, following which, the accused were caught red-handed.

During the trial, the court accepted the case of the ACB and convicted the trio yesterday to one year imprisonment
and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the accused.
