Brazil completes stadium construction 10 months after SWC

Some of the stadiums that were used during the Brazil Soccer World Cup have been finally completed, 10 months following the conclusion of the sport’s pinnacle tournament.

The Itaquerao stadium in Sao Paulo and the Arena De Baixada in Curitiba have been just completed to the original designs they were supposed to be.

The Brazilian government had spent about 3 billion dollars on the improvement of the stadiums to host the matches of the tournament in June. They had hoped that these improvements would in turn help the stadiums to become a heritage for the country, the BBC reported.

While the Arena De Baixada has only just added a retractable roof, glass roofs have been installed in the Itaquerao stadium.

The Brazilian government had attracted widespread criticism as strong protests were demonstrated in host cities in view of spending huge amount of public money on the tournament last year. (ANI)
