Brazil busts Internet paedophile ring

Sao Paulo, September 16: Brazilian police Wednesday arrested seven people suspected of distributing child pornography to an international paedophile network on the Internet, local media reported.

Six of those arrested were in the state of Sao Paulo and one in Minas Gerais state.

“This group distributed images and some of them also produced them,” a federal police official, Jesse Coelho, told the G1 news website.

“Our officers, acting under a warrant, pretended to be paedophiles and connected to the group.”

The investigation turned up 11 paedophile suspects in Brazil and 60 more in 23 other countries.

Coelho said he did not know the state of ongoing law enforcement operations against the foreign suspects.
