Brahmotsavam begins in Trichanur

Tirupati, November 22: Thousands of people thronged the temple town of Tiruchanur to participate in the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple that began here on Monday.

The festival started with the performing of Dhwajarohanam in the auspicious hours of Dhanurlagnam. Amid chanting of hymns and to the beat of traditional percussion instruments, the sacred flag was hoisted atop the temple flag post Dwajasthambam.

Endowment Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah presented silk clothes to Sri Padmavathi Ammavar on behalf of the State Government and performed special pooja to the Goddess.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has made special arrangements in view of the huge rush of pilgrims expected during the festival.
