BPS is bad, says citizens group

Hyderabad, July 25: Claiming to be the voice of the middle-class and lower-middle classes citizens, the All India Economically Backward Citizens Organisation (AIEBCO) held a meet in Hyderabad. The organisation is protesting against the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) by GHMC and government On July 25. Under this scheme, illegal constructions and penthouses can be regularised by the builders.

Duvvuri Ravi Kumar, chairman, AIEBCO declares that they are completely against this scheme. “The builders have erred intentionally by building what was not shown in the plan. Instead of punishing the builders, the government is supporting them,” Ravi fumes.

Ravi demanded that the government immediately stop the BPS scheme as it amounted to cheating the owners who have already been shortchanged by the builder.

Ravi also put forth some demands like allotting land to middle-class families at the rate of Rs 1000 per sq feet and also issuing ration cards to the middle-class population.

About the organisation, the chairman shared that it was formed “because we felt that a non-political set-up was the need of the hour.” He added, “This organisation would mainly work for middle-class and lower-middle class families as we strongly feel that they face the most number of hardships.” Ravikumar informed that further details about the organisation and its services can obtained by visiting the website www.aiebco.org.
