Chandigarh, January 05: The body of a 5-year-old boy, who was kidnapped a fortnight ago, was found in a bag in Mohali today, leading to angry reaction from the relatives and local people.
Khushpreet Singh was kidnapped from outside his house in Sector 45 here on December 21, police said.
The boy’s parents had paid a ransom of Rs 4 lakh to the captors for his release. However, they escaped with Khuspreet and the money after police made a failed rescue attempt.
“The boy’s body was found wrapped in a blue bag and he appears to have been strangled to death 2-3 days back. We have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain exact cause and time of his death,” a police official said.
As the news reached the family, relatives and local people started to arrive at the household at Sector 45 here.
