Boys bag top ranks in EAMCET – 2012

Boys outperformed girls by bagging the top four ranks in both engineering and medical streams of Engineering Agriculture Medical Common Entrance Test -2012 conducted for this year.
Releasing the ranks of EAMCET at the State Council of Higher Education at Masab Tank, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that 73.18 per cent students cleared the engineering stream while 85.57 percent of aspirants passed in the medicine category. In engineering stream, Chinta Nitish Chandra of Rangareddy district got the first rank with 149 marks followed by M V B Manoj Kumar of Visakhapatnam with 148 marks, N Rupesh Venkata of Krishna district with 147 marks and K Dheera Reddy of Hyderabad occupied fourth position with 146 marks.

In medicine stream, Reddy Vijay Niketan of Hyderabad got first rank with 155 marks followed by Sunkara Lokendra Pavan of Krishna stood second with 154 marks, B V R S Sai Virinchi Yadav of Prakasam district got third rank with 153 marks and Kamani Naresh babu of Warangal occupied 4th rank with 152 marks.

In the engineering stream, 2,23,866 candidates cleared the examination out of 2,83,477 taking a pass percentage to 73.18. In medicine and agriculture, 83,686 aspirants passed the examination out of 90,917 candidates registering a pass percentage of 85.57.

Damodar Rajanarasimha said that the online counseling for engineering stream would begin from July third week while for medicine it would begin from July 20. He said that 3.21 lakh seats were available in the 667 engineering colleges and 5,850 medical seats were available in 37 colleges. He said 1870 dental seats were available in 21 colleges while 21,840 pharmacy seats would be available in 270 colleges.

Eamcet convener Prof N V Ramana Rao was also present in the programme.
