Raipur: Unable to deal with the gangrape of his minor girlfriend, a 19-year-old is suspected to have committed suicide just two days after the incident took place on September 1.
The incident came to light after the minor lodged a complaint with the Police on Wednesday, twelve days after the incident occurred. The victim revealed that she was allegedly gang-raped by two men in Chattisgarh’s Korba district earlier this month, HT reported
The Police has filed a case under POSCO Act and section 306 of IPC and arrested the two accused on Thursday.
“The girl and youth, Sawan Sai, were coming back from a local market and when they reached in Bhelwatrikra under Khatghora police station, two youths – Ishwar Das and Khem – objected to his roaming around with a girl.
They then thrashed Sai in front of the girl and when Sai fell unconscious, the duo outraged the modesty of the girl,” said SP Korba Mayank Shrivasatva.
The police further added, “Sai committed suicide after two days possibly because of guilt. He hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his house. On Wednesday, the girl reached the police station and narrated the whole incident and told the reason behind Sai’s suicide,” said the SP.
