Doda: A 15-year-old boy today committed suicide by hanging himself in his house after failing to secure 90 per cent marks in his class 10 examination.
Mohammad Sadiq had secured 74 per cent in the class 10 examination and was under stress as he wanted to secure more than 90 per cent marks, a police officer said.
The teenager committed suicide by hanging himself when he was alone at home today, he added.
Sadiq’s father, a labourer by profession, had tried his best to reassure him but the student was unable to come to terms with the fact that he scored less marks, the officer said.
Two of Sadiq’s elders brothers were position holders, police said, adding that one was pursuing MBBS while the other was doing BTech.
A case has been registered and an investigation into the matter is on, he said.
