Singapore, December 29: A mother and her two daughters have been sentenced to jail for a string of abuses on a young boy who was staying with them.
Between 2009 and June 2011, the boy, who is 10 years old now, was subjected to a variety of abuses, including having his fingers cut with a pair of scissors, being burnt with a hot iron, and being beaten repeatedly, reports The Straits Times.
On one occasion, the boy was scalded with hot oil for eating up all the food in the house, the daily said.
The woman made her daughters hold down the boy while she poured scalding hot oil with a ladly on the boy’s face and chest. The boy was then turne over and the rest of the hot oil was splashed on his back.
The 46-year-old mother received a five-year jail term, while her daughters, aged 20 and 24, were jailed for 20 months each. The woman’s husband was also equally involved and is currently out on bail. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 20, said the paper.
The two daughters have also been involved in other cases of cheating and have been sentenced for additional number of months for those crimes.
