Box office collection to touch Rs 13,000 cr by 2013

New Delhi, March 21: The Indian film industry is set to witness more ‘3 Idiots’ moments as its overall domestic box office collection in the next four years slated to touch a whopping Rs 13,000 crore.

According to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the industry’s revenues from domestic screenings across the country, which stood at a total Rs 8,130 crore in 2008, is slated to grow at a compounded rate of 10 per cent.

“Domestic box office collections are projected to increase to Rs 13,000 crore by the year 2013. This growth is primarily attributable to the growth in average ticket price,” the report said.

With the projected increase in the domestic box office collection, the size of film industry, which was at Rs 10,700 crore, is estimated to grow at a rate of 11.5 per cent in the 2008-13 period, it said.
