Bowling coach Shane Bond difficult to replace, says New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori

New Zealand veteran spinner Daniel Vettori believes that bowling coach Shane Bond would leave ‘big gaps to fill’ when the former paceman moves to Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians following the conclusion of the World Cup.

Vettori said that there are some ‘fantastic bowlers not only in the group but outside the group’, admitting that coupled with Shane’s knowledge of bowling fast; his work ethic and how he prepares, has brought together a formidable lineup, which really complement each other, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The left–arm spinner further said that the ‘guys have fed off Shane’ and the former pace bowler ‘loved working with such talent’.

Reflecting on Bond’s meticulous planning around rival batsmen, Vettori said that is ‘probably one of the things the guys are going to miss the most’, ‘how much work he does behind the scenes’, ‘which probably allows them to be a bit more relaxed about it’.

New Zealand will take on West Indies in the World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday in Wellington.
