The PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana stood by the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on the power problem.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, he said that the Chief Minister was not taking any unilateral decisions and claimed that all his decisions were Congress party’s.
This is in sharp contrast to the criticism of the union minister Chiranjeevi and state ministers C Ramachandraiah and D L Ravindra Reddy that the Chief Minister took the decision unilaterally, without consulting the party and colleagues.
Botsa lashed at the opposition parties including the YSR Congress that they were only fighting for the richer sections of the society. He said there was no meaning in their agitations as the government had already assured that the poor would not be burdened.
Admitting that Congress would face problems if the power charges were hiked, he however said that there was no such possibility as the government was keen on protecting the poor. When asked about the demand of Chiranjeevi for calling a meeting of the coordination committee of the party, he said there was nothing wrong with the demand. He said there was need for the decision to be discussed in the party. He said a decision on the ERC’s recommendations would be taken only after discussion. He maintained that the recommendations were not given effect to, so far.
