Former President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Botsa Satyanarayana, along with his wife, brother and followers, joined the YSR Congress Party here on Sunday.
Botsa’s wife and former MP Botsa Jhansi, brother and ex-MLA Botsa Appala Narasaiah, cousin and ex-MLA B Appala Naidu, another former Sathiwada MLA P Suryanarayana, DCCB Chairperson M Tulasi, DCM Chairman SV Ramana Raju, ex-PCC General Secretary Y Ramanamurthy, ex-DCC President P Vijayakumar, ex-DCC General Secretary M Srinivasa Rao, Urban Bank chairman P Nageswara Rao, 62 sitting MPTCs, ZPTCs and Sarpanches and other leaders joined the YSRCP along with Botsa.
They were welcomed into the party by YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy who offered them party’s khandwas (scarves) at party headquarters at Lotus Pond.
Botsa was the last PCC President of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He had also served as minister for two terms from 2004 to 2014. However, he lost the 2014 Assembly elections. He was suspended from the Congress party on June 5 following reports that he was joining the YSRCP.
Speaking to media persons later, Botsa said he did not join the YSRCP for power or status but to fight against the anti-people policies of Telugu Desam Party Government in Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
