Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday asked the political leaders not to link the Telangana State issue with the by-elections to be held in the 18 Assembly constituencies in the state.
In an informal interaction with the media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief took serious objection over linking of Telangana issue to the by-elections. Stating that the Telangana issue has nothing to do with the by-elections, he said that the leaders were unnecessarily complicating the issue further.
Botsa said that the high command was seriously considering finding a permanent solution to the Telangana issue. He expressed confidence that the High Command would resolve the issue amicably without hurting the sentiments of people of any region.
Stating that the Congress party has fully geared up to face the by-elections anytime, the PCC chief said that the list of candidates has been finalized for 14 Assembly constituencies and the aspirants for remaining four constituencies –Payakaraopeta, Macherla, Ongole and Anantapur would be finalised soon. He expressed confidence that the Congress party would win the by-elections with the government schemes and development programmes launched for the benefit of people. He said that the party was ready to face the local bodies elections in the State, he said.
Responding to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy raising objection for Telangana ministers and leaders visit to New Delhi, the PCC chief stated that there was no truth in such report. He said that the Chief Minister never objected to Telangana leaders’ visit to New Delhi. The Telangana leaders can meet the High Command anytime and no one will raise any objection, he said. (INN)
