Finding fault with the TDP and YSRCP for criticizing the State Government on Fees Reimbursement issue, PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana has alleged that the TDP was making allegations, colluding with the Engineering Colleges. He also questioned YSRCP honorary chief YS Vijayamma as to why she was taking up ‘Deeksha’ on Fees Reimbursement issue.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Botcha has said that TDP has no moral right to speak on Fees Reimbursement issue. He said that the then TDP Government had allotted only Rs.500 crores for students, but the Congress Government was allotting Rs.3800 crores. The TDP was pointing out that the budget was increased three times and hence the present Government has increased the budget for students, he said and added that the TDP was forgetting the fact that if the present Government increases only three times to TDP’s budget it would be Rs.1500 crores only, but the amount spending on students is Rs.3800 crores.
He said that the Government was applying Fees Reimbursement scheme to all SC, ST, BC and EBC students. He said that the State was paying its quota though the Centre was also paying to the SCs and STs. He said that in the State, the problem is only with 85 engineering colleges with about 40,000 students, out of whom 30,000 students are eligible for the Fees Reimbursement. Only problem is with the 5,000 to 10,000 students and they will continue their education getting loans from the banks, he said. He said that it doesn’t mean it was not violating the ‘saturation’ policy.
He alleged that the TDP was criticizing the State Government colluding with the Engineering colleges. It was not possible to give the Fees to all the students who studied in private intermediate colleges spending lakhs of rupees. He said that the Government was trying to provide quality education and the TDP was trying to destroy the Government plan. He asked the students to pull up the TDP asking as to what it had done to the students during its rule.
Taking a dig at the Vijayamma’s proposed Deeksha on Fees Reimbursement issue on September 6 and 7, Botcha said that she has to take up the Deeksha explaining as to what mistake the present Government has done with regard to Fees Reimbursement. He said Vijayamma has to remember that the present Government had also paid the arrears of Fees Reimbursement scheme of Dr YSR’s regime. Vijayamma should not misguide the students and bring the students on roads, he said.
As usual responding on Telangana issue, he said that the Centre was trying to find a permanent solution on Telangana issue.
He said that the appointment to party positions has begun and it was going on at mandal level. The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has already concentrated on nominated posts issue, he said.
Asked about senior Congress leader Uppunoothala Purushotham Reddy’s criticism of the Congress, Botcha said that Uppunoothala’s age might be 80 plus and he enjoyed positions and power all these years in the Congress party. “I don’t understand what he wanted now. It is not correct for him to say that it is not possible to cleanse the party now. The party will not be cleansed as he expected”, he said.
Asked whether the Minister’s committee headed by Dharmaana Prasadarao will continue till 2014, he said that he has to clarify it after speaking to Dharmana.
Asked about his yesterday’s tour, Botcha expressed anger over the scribes and said that he will not reveal everything to them. He also advised the scribes not to ask every detail. (NSS)
