Bosnia-Herzegovina envoy calls on Mirwaiz Umer Farooq

Srinagar: Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Thursday called on senior separatist leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq here.

A spokesman of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said: “Sabit Subasic today called on Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq at his Nigeen residence in Srinagar.”

The Bosnian envoy and Mirwaiz discussed a series of issues.

The Hurriyat chairman briefed him about the historical perspective of the Kashmir dispute and the present extreme repressive situation prevailing here.

“Mirwaiz explained to the visiting dignitary the immense sacrifices and sufferings that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have gone through in the past seventy years in general and the last thirty years in particular for demanding their fundamental right to choose their destiny as guaranteed by the UN,” the spokesman said.

Mirwaiz told the envoy that the fourth generation of Kashmiris is getting consumed by the raging conflict, as they are fed up of the repression and status quo and want a resolution.

“Mirwaiz said due to Kashmir dispute, which is primarily a political and humanitarian problem, the two nuclear powers India and Pakistan who have already fought three wars, are perpetually at loggerheads and in confrontational mode,” the spokesman said.

“The routine border skirmishes between Indian and Pakistani armies are taking a serious toll on innocent humans on both sides of the border,” said Mirwaiz Umer Farooq.
