Hyderabad, April 09: The Border Security Force (BSF) bagged the overall team Shield at the 10th All India Police Band Competitions which concluded at RPF Training Centre, Moula-ali here today.
Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB), New Dehi won the first prize in Bugle Calls event, while Jharkhand CRPF stood second and AP Police came third.
West Bengal Police topped the First place in the Pipe Band section while second place went to CRPF and Assam Police got the third position.
In the Brass Band competition BSF stood first and second and third postiosn were went in the favour of Rajasthan Police and Indo Tibetan Border Police(ITBP).
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, MS Jayanth, General Manager, South Central Railway (SSB) said it was heartening to witness this wonderful spectacle of many colourful bands playing together.
He said ”it is matter of great pride SCR was entrusted this challenging task of organizing this competitions”.
He congratulated the winning teams and presented the medals to the winners.
In view of the Security challenges thrown to the Police in recent times Mr Jayanth said the Police and other security forces were doing commendable job in adverse conditions.
He stated that role of Railway Protection Force has been widened and they have been assigned more powers and responsibilties under RPF act. RPF has been modernized with ammunition and greater emphasis has been given on training of RPF personnel . He also detailed about the various measures taken to strengthen security systems on South Central Railway and pointed out that crime has substantially declined on the zone.
In the four day long competitions a total of 23 teams participated representing various states, besides BSF, CRPF, RPF, SSB and ITBP in this prestigious event.
