Hyderabad, April 16: There is some good news for civil service aspirants in the state. The Telugu Akademi is planning to release preparatory books in Telugu for aspirants writing civil services.
Telugu medium students previously had to read English books and then translate to make notes in Telugu.
Books on the subjects of anthropology, public administration, political science, economics and psychology will arrive in the market by the first week of May, said Telugu Akademi director K Yadagiri on Friday.
It must be noted that there are presently no books in Telugu medium for preparation for civil services.
The Akademi’s governing body had approved publication of books in Telugu, said Yadagiri.
He added that senior IAS officers and noted academicians would be involved in preparing these books.
“In the first phase, we are looking to release around 10,000 books on respective subjects. We will release the next batch depending on student response. Prices of books would be kept affordable so that rural students can avail them easily,” said the Akadami director.
Yadagiri added the Akadami would also set up four regional centres in Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar.
The Higher Education department will provide financial assistance for publication of the books, said Higher Education minister Damodar Rajnarasimha.
He said the department would also help in printing of books. He hoped their aim to provide civil services preparatory material in Telugu would help more students from the state crack these exams.
IAS Study Circle director RC Reddy welcomed the initiative to bring out material in Telugu.
Kanishka IAS Akadami director K Mahendar said this would reduce preparation time for rural students and those studying in Telugu medium overcome their problems of preparing from English books.
