As expected, the TRS Youth Wing President and newly elected Corporator from Cherlapally Division Bonthu Rammohan is going to occupy the prestigious Mayor seat on Thursday. Rammohan is becoming the first Mayor of the Hyderabad City after the formation of separate Telangana state.
The Party senior leaders sat on Wednesday to finalise the Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates. Finally they zeroed on Bonthu Rammohan’s name. The leaders finalized Baba Fasiuddin’s name as Deputy Mayor. Fasiuddin worked in party and participated in the Telangana movement extensively.
During 2014 elections, Rammohan tried for a ticket to contest from Sanathnagar Assembly constituency but the Party Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao rejected his request. The upset Rammohan tried for nominated posts but the Party didn’t announce the nominated posts except SC Corporation given to Pidamarthi Ravi. Rammohan participated in the separate Telangana movement as a student of the Osmania University. He also became TRSV president. Later, he became the TRS Youth Wing Chief.
TRS Party Secretary General Dr K Kesava Rao’s daughter Gadwal Vijayalaxmi’s name did rounds as Mayor but her recent entry into the party might have distanced the seat of Mayor. Vijayalxmi won as Corporator from Jubilee Hills Division. (NSS)
