Bonalu procession ended in old city peacefully. Hyderabad City Police had made elaborate arrangements for this procession in view of Shab-e-Qadar and Bonalu following on the same day. It had installed CCTV’s at Charminar and on the route of the procession. Various stages were erected at many places to welcome the procession.
The most important feature of the procession that it presented songs depicting Hindu Muslim culture. There was no untoward incident yesterday. Police pickets were posted at mosques. Shops from Shah Ali Banda to Pathar Gatti remained closed. Police diverted the traffic to other routes.
Mr. Anurag Sharma, Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad City thanked the citizens of Hyderabad and told the Staff Reporter of Siasat that after 33 years two festivals coincided on the same say. He expressed his pleasure that the citizens of Hyderabad had exhibited Hyderabadi culture. Police received the cooperation of the people which help it in maintaining peace. He further told that police will be alert till Eid-ul-Fitar festival.
