Hyderabad, July 26: Bonal procession passed of peacefully yesterday night. Elaborate police arrangements had been made in old city. Mosques, dargas and chillas were wrapped with sheets on the routes of procession. Police were seen patrolling in the sensitive areas. However despites police’s attempt the procession started late and ended late at night.
Mild tension prevailed during the procession when two potrajs had a dispute. Following which police immediately took control over the situation.
Apart from that, tension triggered at the foot of Charminar when police and procession supervisors had an argument. Supervisors of Meeralam mandi procession demanded to visit various temples of the old city on the occasion of silver jubilee of the procession. However DCP south zone did not permit them.
Strict arrangements were made by the police at Makkah masjid during procession due to which musalis (one who performs prayer) had a tough time. Police halted the procession at Shalibanda on prayer timings.
Provocative slogans were shouted and controversial songs were sung during procession whereas police failed to stop them.
