NEW DELHI: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Zakir Naik challenging National Investigation Agency charges-sheet filed against him, reported ANI news agency.
A division bench of justices RM Savant and Revati Mohite Dere observed that relief can’t be given to Zakir Naik as he has not cooperated with the investigating agencies and is a proclaimed offender.

In the petition, the televangelist also sought the revocation of his passport but the court said it did not entertain his request to issue directions to Ministry of External Affairs to revoke suspension of his passport.
“Regarding the other reliefs sought in the petition…we do not see how this court can consider them when the petitioner has not even presented himself before the probe agencies. The petitioner is ensconced in Malaysia and is seeking a direction to the agencies to submit probe reports,” the court said in its order, reported Scroll.in.
The televangelist is facing charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act is being probe by the NIA and the ED after allegations emerged in 2016 that his sermons on his Peace TV was one of the reason behind the Dhaka restaurant attack, which left 22 people dead.
