Bomb scare at Delhi market

New Delhi, June 30: A bomb disposal drill was carried out in Sarojini Nagar market in south Delhi Thursday after a man alerted police about a suspicious article lying in a box attached to an electric pole. It turned out to be a broken remote, police said.

“The remote was kept near the Delhi Public Library close to the market. A passerby made a call at police control room,” said a police officer.

Police said that as soon as the information on the bomb came in the morning, the area was cordoned off.

The bomb squad after its exercise declared that it was a broken remote without a battery, said the officer.

In 2005, blasts rocked the market killing 43 people.
