Senior district administration officials and police on Saturday rushed to Kotawali area in Etah to defuse the tension which erupted after some unknown persons threw a bomb inside a religious place damaging a portion of the building.
Some miscreants threw the bomb at the religious place in congested Barahsaini area in which its upper storey was damaged, police said.
A forensic team has been called to look into the kind of explosive used and a hunt was on to nab the culprits, police said.
Meanwhile, local traders lodged a strong protest against the incident by pulling down shutters. They demanded prompt arrest of the culprits.
