A major tragedy was averted today when a Chinese-made hand grenade was defused in time after it
was found near the residence of the director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Manipur’s Imphal West
district.
Sources said unidentified militants hurled the grenade and it fell near the gate of the director’s residence but did not explode.
Later it was defused by police.
