Hyderabad, May 16: In an strange turn of events, a prank call set the guests at a marriage at Himayathnagar into panic mode for some time on Sunday morning when a posse of policemen along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs entered the venue looking for explosives.
The marriage, however, went on uninterrupted and was held at the scheduled time.
Around 8.20 a.m., an unidentified person called up the police control room stating that a bomb was placed in the TTD Kalyanamandapam at Himayathnagar and the explosive would go off at any moment.
On information, Narayanaguda police and the bomb squad descended on the function hall where the preparations were on in full swing for the marriage scheduled at 11.30 a.m.
The preparations were stopped for some time as the bomb disposal squad scoured the area for possible explosives but the marriage was performed on time.
Police declared the venue safe after searching for more than 30 minutes.
The call was traced to a public telephone booth in Vanasthalipuram.
