Peshawar, May 18: A bomb attack targeting police in a flashpoint town of northwestern Pakistan killed 12 people on Tuesday, a hospital doctor said.
The bomb exploded near a police vehicle carrying a senior local officer on the outskirts of Dera Ismail Khan on the main road leading to Bannu, said police.
“We have received 12 dead bodies and 10 injured,” Doctor Nasir Malik Akhtar, head of the casualty department at Dera Ismail Khan hospital told Geo television.
“They are three policemen, including one officer, and nine civilians,” he said, referring to the deaths.
A police spokesman said the bomb was planted on a bicycle.
