The Islamist militant group Boko Haram is reportedly accused of abducting more women and girls from two villages in Nigeria’s north-eastern Adamawa state.
According to the BBC, the abductions have not been confirmed by the authorities, but residents say they took place a day after the military announced it had agreed a ceasefire with the Boko Haram group.
The people in the area who witnessed the abductions said that a large group of insurgents attacked the villages in the night and took young women and girls with them.
The militants reportedly forced the women to harvest groundnuts on a farm and kidnapped those who were teenagers or in their early 20s, the report said.
The news of the kidnapping comes amid a reported truce and talks aimed at securing the release of more than 200 other girls taken hostage by the group in April.
