Body of missing 12-year-old girl found

New Delhi: The body of a 12-year-old girl, missing since last evening, was found dumped at a desolated spot near the boundary wall of a school in outer Delhi’s Narela area today.

The girl went missing around 7 pm last evening, following which her siblings informed the police and when she could not be tracked after an intensive search operation, the police registered a case of abduction, said a police official.

Her body was found around 7.30 AM today by some locals who raised an alarm. The body was lying in bushes close to the boundary wall of a school compound, which is around a km away from her residence, said the official.

The girl’s family belong to Bihar. Her parents went to their native village on Sunday, leaving the girl with her siblings, and have not returned yet, the official said.

There were no visible signs of injury on the girl’s body and her clothes were also found to be intact. However, the police haven’t ruled out possibilities of murder or sexual assault as of now.

“The body has been kept at a mortuary and it would be sent for a postmortem examination as soon as her parents arrive. If it turns out to be a case of murder, and even sexual assault, relevant sections will be added to the existing FIR,” said DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.
