Jaisalmer (Rajasthan), April 04: Police exhumed the body of a girl child who was allegedly killed soon after her birth and buried in a village near here in November last year.
Acting on a complaint, police started investigating the case and dug out the body and conducted the post mortem.
“The body, which was buried in village Devda, was exhumed on Saturday after we found the matter suspicious,” a police official said, adding, the autopsy report was awaited.
“Action will be taken if the complaint is found to be true,” he said.
The incident has come to light at a time when provisional Census 2011 data showed Rajasthan registering the lowest sex ratio among children up to six years. The sex ratio which was 909 per 1000 in 2001 Census, fell to 883 against the national figure of 914 females in 2011.
