Manipal, July 25: Body of a newborn baby boy was found in a drain near Kasturba Medical Store near KMC Hospital, here today. The body surfaced in the rainwater from the drain in the morning. The baby seemed to be a newborn as the cord was still attached. The cause of his death was not known yet. Official sources said it was yet to be ascertained as to how the body came to be there or who the parents were. Locals who gathered at the spot speculated that the baby may have been born dead. Police arrived at the spot and shifted the body after conducting preliminary investigations. Manipal police registered a case in this regard.
