Mumbai, March 24: Bazmee’s script is designed predominantly as an Akshay-Sonam love story. But there is an important male character in the film. Apparently, Anees was thinking of casting another leading actor in the role, but Akki suggested they approach Bobby, who is Akshay’s close buddy. In fact, even their wives are very close friends.
The Khiladi has always been very fond of Bobby. Deol Jr, too has singled Akshay out as his only friend in the film industry. The two worked together in Abbas-Mustan’s Ajnabee and Suneel Darshan’s Dosti. After Dosti, Akshay vowed he would work with Bobby at the earliest opportunity.
Bazmee confirms, “Yes I’ve signed Bobby for a major part in Thank You. It’s true Akshay and Bobby are close friends. However, I, too, am very close to the Deol family, Dharamji, Sunny and Bobby. I’ve written two of Sunny’s films. I wanted a chance to work with Bobby. He plays a very important part in Thank You.”
