BOATS to hold Apprenticeship Traming Scheme seminar on Aug 22

Board of Apprecenticeship Training (BOATS, Southern Region) from Chennai is organising seminar on ‘Apprenticeship Training Scheme’ on August 22 in the city. Addressing a press conference here, Director of BOATS (Southern Region) A Ayyakkannu said as many as 125 senior Level HR Executives of both IT and Manufacturing sector are expected to participate in the seminar will be presided over by BOATS Chairman Manish Saharwal. Dr A K Nassa, Deputy Education Adviser, Ministry of Human Resource Development from New Delhi will deliver key note address at the seminar to be inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Technical Education Commissioner Ajay Jain, he said. During the seminar, he will explain the details of the scheme to the employers and also the stipend subsidy besides showcasing its new web portal for eonline business transaction using internet technology, he said, adding the Board had notified 3500 establishments, 45,000 apprenticeship training slots, training around 35,000 apprentices and reimbursing around Rs 30 crores as 50 per cent central government share of stiped to all industries every year in the region. “However, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, we have notified 800 establishments and training around 7000 apprentices every year,” he said and added as per the advise of its Ministry, the Board has set a target of notifying 3000 establishments and train 30,000 apprentices for the year 2012-2013. Presently, the Board is implementing the scheme in the five states of Southern region — Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Union Territory of Lakshadweep. The apprentices are placed for training in various organizations and establishments involved in manufacutirng of products and services and include all sector central and state government agenices, private and public sector undertakings, for large, medium and small scale enteprises including IT and ITES sectors, he added.
