Godavari, January 30: At least 10 persons drowned and 40 others were missing after a boat overturned in river Godavari in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
The country-made boat ferrying about 40-50 persons overturned at around 0630 hours in the river near Biyyaputeppa village in West Godavari district, Superintendent of Police B Balakrishna said.
So far ten bodies have been retrieved, he said, adding family members of the victims, hailing from nearby villagers, are at the accident site, about 30 kms from Biyyaputeppa.
Rescue operations have been launched to trace the missing persons, the SP said.
