Board exam papers stolen, 11 districts to get new questions

Patna, March 01: Days before the commencement of the UP Board examinations, the question papers of the High School and Intermediate level were stolen from Haideri Inter College in Sakheri village in Bulandshahr on Saturday.

According to the police, the principal of the college, Abdul Shakeel, on Sunday informed them that the question papers were stolen from his office. As many as 14 question papers of different subjects were found to be missing from the cupboard kept in the principal’s room. The principal also informed the Secondary Education department about the theft. An FIR has been registered against unidentified person at the Jahangirabad police station.

The department has suspended Bhoori Singh, District Inspector of School (DIOS), Bulandshahr. Following a preliminary inquiry conducted by the department, another FIR was registered with the Bulandshahr police station. “The Secondary Education department filed another complaint in this connection against four persons, including the college principal. No one has been arrested as yet,” said Neelesh Kumar, SSP of Bulandshahr.

According to Kumar, the four persons named in the complaint filed by the department have been summoned by the police.

The accused includes Abdul Shakeel, clerk Rafeeq Ahmad, and two Class IV employees, Aftar Abbas and Jagpal. “It seems that the incident has taken place with the connivance of the school

authorities. We have changed the centre and the school children will be accommodated in the nearby school buildings,” said Sanjay Mohan, Director of Secondary Education department.

Prabha Tripathi, Secretary of Secondary Education department, said: “The regional secretary of Meerut has been assigned the task of conducting the inquiry.” The Board examination will start from March 4. The question papers of the 11 affected-districts of the state will now be changed.
