TDP has received a jolt in Vizianagaram when party senior leader Gadde Babu Rao has joined the YSR Congress party.
Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has welcomed covered Babu Rao, who was with the TDP for the past 30 years and served in different capacities, with a shawl and invited him into his party. Film actor and producer Giri Babu also joined the YSRC in the presence of Jagan.
Babu Rao, who has been unhappy with the treatment being meted out to him by his party, recently announced his resignation. He hasdannounced his resignation at a meeting of his supporters in his Cheepurupalli constituency. Babu Rao lost the 2009 election to Botcha Satyanarayana. He served the TDP as government whip. He resigned from the party twice earlier, but continued, after requests by the leadership. This time, there would be no going back as he has joined the YSRC, say his supporters. Babu Rao is a strong leader and his exit would cause exodus of several influential leaders of the party, say political analysts. (NSS)
