Blazing Heat: diseases and preventive measures

At a time when the people of the state are reeling under indefinite power cut and water scarcity, severe weather condition and blazing heat have added to their woes. The hospitals witness a crowd of women and children suffering from heat stroke being admitted to the hospital.

According to sources there is rise in number of diarrhea patients as the heat wave intensifies. Doctors ay that diarrhea is caused by drinking contaminated water and ice made up of contaminated water. People are advised to drink boiled water and avoid food items and ice balls sold on push carts. Doctors say that taking preventive measures is the best solution for the problem.

Dr. Mohammed Rafi Ahmed superintendent Shifa khana Unani Charminar told that if effective preventive measures are not taken people are likely to suffer from diseases likely sunstroke, loss of appetite, headache, fever, palpitation, typhoid, measles, hepatitis, jaundice, gastric problems, diarrhea and dysentery. He recommended to drink at least 10 to 12 glasses daily, to use curd, juices, lemon water and fresh fruits instead of fast foods, to stay indoors during the peak hours of heat, even if one has to go out, one should go out in the sun after drinking water, lassi or lemon water and covering head and neck with cloth. People are also advised to prefer cotton and white coloured clothes and to sprinkle rose water on face before going out in the sun.
